The invention provides a preparation method of a polyethylene composite material for storage tanks, which comprises the following steps: (1) smashing Humulus japonicus leaf, dissolving in petroleum ether, extracting under reflux, filtering, extracting the filter residue under reflux, merging the filtrates, drying by distillation, dissolving in dilute sulfuric acid, extracting under reflux, filtering, extracting the filtrate, merging, and concentrating by rotary evaporation to obtain a Humulus japonicus extract; (2) mixing the Humulus japonicus extract with titanium dioxide microspheres to obtain a microsphere mixture; (3) adding the microsphere mixture into a silane coupling agent to obtain a coupling microsphere mixture; (4) heating the coupling microsphere mixture, water and methacrylic acid, and adding ammonium persulfate to obtain a grafted microsphere mixture; and (5) uniformly mixing a polyethylene resin, a toughener, a stabilizer, a nucleator and the grafted microsphere polymer, transferring into a double screw extruder, and carrying out extrusion granulation to obtain the polyethylene composite material for storage tanks. The composite material has favorable mold resistance, and can be used for occasions with higher requirements for mold resistance.
