The invention relates to the field of environment-friendly materials, aims to problems that in the prior art, the impact resistance is poor and the light to heat capability is poor, and discloses a method for preparing carbon cloth surface covering copper-bismuth nanoparticles for seawater desalting. The method comprises the following preparation steps: putting carbon cloth into deionized water and a dilute nitric acid solution in sequence, and performing activation; preparing a mixed solution that the mass ratio of bismuth salt to citric acid is (1-1.5):(0.8-1), putting the activated carbon cloth into the mixed solution, performing a reaction, further performing heating to 75-85 DEG C, performing a reaction for 1.8-2 hours, further performing heating to 150-170 DEG C, performing a reaction for 8-10 hours, performing cooling to the room temperature, performing cleaning, and performing vacuum drying; and putting the obtained bismuth-based carbon cloth into a 0.5-1mol/L copper salt solution, performing drying, and further performing calcining in the presence of argon. The invention provides a material with good light absorption, a photo-thermal conversion capability and pole strength, the diffuse reflectance of the surface of the material to light can be effectively reduced, and effective absorption of full-wave bands of sunshine can be achieved.
